Welcome to English 10 with Ms Ikeda! Class meets in Block C in RoomA312.

In order to start off this semester on the right foot, please make sure that you are prepared for all lessons with the required supplies and a positive mindset. Grade 10 students are required to have a set of cue cards for provincial exam prep, in addition to the outlined list of supplies.

Current Unit and Essential Questions: Novel Study: The Hunger Games

  • How are we like the people in the Capitol? Are there places like Panem in the world today?
  • Are humans basically good or evil? What doe sit mean to be good?
  • Why do humans seem to want to have power over other humans?

Current Learning Targets:

  • I can respectfully and productively exchange ideas with my classmates.
  • I can understand non-fiction texts and find their connection to the themes of the story.
  • I can write a synthesis essay which compares and contrasts the novel to another piece of literature or writing.

Current Homework:

  • Finish “Preparing for the Composition” worksheet (Due 2016 01 22)
  • Study for the provincial exam – know your literary devices
